Suresh K Ramasamy

Suresh Kumar Ramasamy PhD, is currently with Apple as their SME for Texture Metrology. His focus is on visual and tactile characterization of metals and brittles for the customer facing surfaces of Apple products.  Prior to that, he was with Hutchinson Technology as the Principal Engineer in Advanced Vision and Measurement Group, where he focused on managing metrology roadmaps for the hard disk drive suspensions.

He serves as Vice Chair for ASME B46 Surface Metrology standards committee and is also the current US SME1 for ISO TC213-WG16. Apart from surface texture metrology, his interests include visual appearance models and serves in CIE Technical Committees for color, gloss, sparkle, graininess and ASTM technical Committee for gonio-apparent color. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering from NIT Trichy, Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Hartford and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
