Thomas G. Roddey is a native of Catawba, South Carolina, and a 1981 graduate of Rock Hill High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1985 to 1993, where he was a first-class machinist’s mate and leading engineering laboratory technician. His early career laid the foundation for an extensive background in commercial nuclear power plant operations. Following his naval service, Thomas began his civilian career at the Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, where he worked as a nuclear plant operator from 1993 to 1998. He later joined Exelon Nuclear at its corporate headquarters, serving as a regulatory licensing engineer and staff assistant to the Chief Operating Officer from 2002 to 2007. His expertise continued to grow with roles including training support manager and engineering programs manager at the Oyster Creek Nuclear Station (2007–2010) and design engineering manager and engineering director at the Prairie Island Nuclear Plant (2010–2011).

From 2011 to 2014, Thomas held several leadership positions at NextEra corporate headquarters and St. Lucie Nuclear Station, including engineering functional area manager, engineering programs manager, and engineering systems manager. Since 2014, he has been with the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO), taking on roles such as evaluator, assistant department manager, organizational effectiveness team leader, and staff assistant to the Chief Executive Officer. He is currently the department manager for radiation protection, chemistry, and industrial safety.

Thomas holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (2001) and a Master of Science in Energy and Resource Management from the University of California at Berkeley (2002). His professional certifications include Reactor Operator Certification for Boiling Water Reactors and Senior Reactor Operator Certification for Pressurized Water Reactors (Westinghouse). He is also a licensed real estate agent in Georgia.
