Minor in Mechanical Engineering
Mechanical Engineering Minor
Starting in the Fall of 2023, the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science Department will now also have a minor in Mechanical Engineering, that will be open to all non-MEGR students. It will require 15 credits total to complete; 12 (cr) will be required and 3 (cr) will be an approved elective from the department.

What is it?
The Minor in Mechanical Engineering is intended to help STEM majors gain knowledge in core concepts in Mechanical Engineering. Topics include: statics, dynamics, strength of materials, thermodynamics, and many others that can be covered in electives.
Completion of the MEGR minor can:
- Help non-MEGR students learn about topics of interest outside of their majors
- Broaden career opportunities and complement other degree programs such as: Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Math, and Computer Science
- Provide broader preparation for pursing graduate studies
What are the prerequisites or eligibility requirements?
Interested students must have the following:
- 2.8 overall GPA
- Math 1242 and PHYS 2101 with a C or higher
- Can’t already be in the MEGR major
