Collaboration between MEES/UNC Charlotte and UNESP-Brazil in high-speed machining of nickel-based alloys using ceramic cutting tools

Categories: Departmental News

We are delighted to welcome Professor Marcos Valério Ribeiro from Sao Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil, as a visiting professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science, of the William States Lee College of Engineering, University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Prof. Valério Ribeiro is collaborating with Prof. Jose Outeiro and other colleagues from the Digital Engineering for Advanced Manufacturing Lab (DEAM Lab), Additive Manufacturing Technology Lab (AMTL) and the Center for Precision Metrology. His project is focused on high-speed machining of difficult-to-cut wrought and additively manufactured nickel-based alloys using ceramic tools developed at his laboratory. His visit offers a unique opportunity to establish a research and educational partnership between UNC Charlotte and UNESP.

Welcome to Charlotte, Dr. Valério Ribeiro! We look forward to the impactful work and fruitful collaborations ahead.
