PhD student wins Best Student Poster at annual Cryobiology conference

Toni Perkins, PhD student in Mechanical Engineering, was awarded the Student Best Poster Award at the 63rd Annual Meeting of the Society for Cryobiology in Seattle, Washington for her poster titled “Vitrification and Rewarming of Hepatocyte Spheroids Using a Rapid Conduction Device for Regenerative Medicine Applications”. Under the guidance of Dr. Charles Y. Lee, Toni Perkins’s poster highlighted research advancements in regenerative medicine and organ preservation using engineering technology. The poster was coauthored by Madelyn Fontaine, Austin Heft, Dr. Charles Y. Lee, and Dr. Mark Clemens of UNC Charlotte. Other research collaborators include the University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic.
